A Year Of New Beginnings

Dear God help me as I set my vision and goals for this year of new beginnings. Give me Your directions to outline that honor Your will for my life. Heavenly Father, lead me on the path that allows me to best use my gifts and talents to serve you. Help me to guard my thoughts closely, the words I speak to others, and my actions so that when others look at me and hear me speak they see You through me. Give me strength and boldness when I share my faith with others so that I may bring them closer to you. Lord help me to keep my intense passion for my faith so that I am always ready to say, “Lord send me”. I pray all this with praise, faith, and love for You. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen

What Are You Afraid Of?

Heavenly Father, I come to you with prayers of praise and with a request for forgiveness. Father I praise you for showing me how much you are involved in my life and that you are always there for me. Thank you Father for easing my fears and for protecting me from harms way. Father forgive me for my fears which show I am not always strong enough with my faith and trust in you. Dear God, give me the strength to always turn my fears over to you and to keep my faith strong with my trust in you. Father God, protect me from Satan's arrows that wish to hold me back in my service to you. It is my wish now and always to serve you and honor you in a way that pleases you and glorifies your name. I pray this all in Jesus name, Amen.

Father Help Me Face In The Direction Of Your Light Always

Heavenly Father please forgive me whenever my faith falters as I show fear because I doubt You. I say I trust you but I know that sometimes situations get the better of me. Thank you for never turning your back on me. You never give up on me. When I get lost because my focus is not on you, when I get distracted, turned around, or tempted You are there for me. Your light burns away the veil of darkness. Thank you for hearing my fearful prayers. You are the God as written in Psalm 68:19 who daily bears my burdens, and I praise you. You call out to me when I am scared and lost with such loving comfort, always turning me back to you. Father, I pray that you now keep me focused forward so that your light shines brightly on me always. Guide my steps, so that the darkness can no longer scare me for my life is now yours. I now focus on you with great joy, for the blessings and the trials I face. I know that you are always there for me when I am in need. I wish to seek Your will and blessings for my life so that my life reflects Your light in a way that honors and glorifies You always. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.

Anger Is The Wind That Blows Out The Light Of Reason

Heavenly Father help me control my anger today. If someone is angry at me help me to defuse the situation so that a peaceful solution can be found. Dear God if others try to incite me to anger help me to walk away instead of getting angry and losing control. Father I wish to honor and glorify you. If I am not dealing with issues that I should, so that I become short tempered, help me see these things I need to work on and resolve them so that I may move on. Father if my heart is bitter help me to face my bitterness so that I can forgive others that have hurt me and move on. Dear God I ask your forgiveness if I have in anger caused anyone pain or hurt feelings. Father heal them and give them peace. Heavenly Father if I still hold any unforgiving feelings in my heart I pray that you point this out to me so that I may forgive them. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen

Love, Love, Love!

Dear Loving Savior, it feels wonderful to know that You are always there for us when we are in need of You. Thank you for letting us come to You when we can’t handle things. Lord, we praise You because we know that You have already endured the pain and suffering on the cross to give Your life for us, so that we could have eternal life. Lord we praise you for being our glorious Savior. Satan can not weaken You with His temptations. Satan has no power over You. You are our hero and our greatest strength. Lord we know that the gift of salvation that You give us through our faith in You is greater than anything of this world You could give to us.

Praise God for the love that You show us in so many ways. God, we know that You are love, and that if we live in love by living our lives in Your will, You will bless us by living in us with Your love. God, we praise you and pray that You will let Your love shine out from us for all to see. Help us to better love You our precious Lord with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our minds and with all our strength. God help us to spread Your love to others by better loving our sisters and brothers too.

Lord, guide us so that our love can be the love Paul wrote about in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13. Let our love be patient and kind. Let our love not be envious, boasting, or proud. Lord correct us so that our love may never be rude, self-seeking, easily angered, or one that would keep record of wrongs. Mold us and shape us in an image that is pleasing to You, so that our love rejoices with the truth and never delights in evil. Help us Lord so that the love we have is a love that protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Make ours a love that never fails or betrays another. Let our love be a partner to our faith and hope, so that we may always honor and glorify you with the love we have for you and with the love we share with others. Help us to always keep our love for You one that always comes first in our lives, above and beyond all else.

Father God, help us to build on our love with You, with our families, with our friends, with fellow Christians, with strangers by reaching out to them, and by being servants to those in need. Oh Lord my God, You are truly the one that is as fine as fine can be. Help me and others return Your love in the way that pleases You. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.

Life By The Spirit

Galatians 5:16-26

"So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other."

Dear Heavenly Father, guide me in the ways that will help me to live by the Spirit. I wish to take life each day for what it is and try to make the best of it by faith to honor You. I wish to live by the Spirit, so I will not gratify the desires of my sinful nature. Father, I belong to Christ Jesus who was crucified for my sinful nature with its passions and desires. Jesus endured the cross so that I could live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. Dear God I wish to honor Your will for my life and work through the sanctification process, so that I too can share in the blessings and the fruits of the Spirit.

Lord you are my strength. I will stand strong and hold fast to my faith, because I know that my God has no limits to His love or His power. Heavenly Father, surround me with your love and let it be my shield to hold back temptations that would pull me away from You. Keep me from being selfish and self absorbed so that I may reach out and serve others in a way that honors You. Let me bring the sweetness of Your word and the glory of salvation to those that need it. This I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

Lord Give Me Courage And Patience To Wait On You

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Lord I need your help. I know that I am struggling with my impatience right now to trust you and honor your will and wait on you. Lord are you still working to put into place key pieces of the puzzle for the situation I am in? Lord, give me courage and patience to wait on you. Lord am I not where I need to be in my situation or in my faith? God work on me, strengthen me, and give me guidance, so that I can handle what you know I must face in the future. Lord, give me courage and patience to wait on you.

God I know you know me better than I know myself. I will trust You in these judgments. Lord direct me and test my faith if this is Your will. I wish to be strong in faith. I pray for you to make me ready for promotion, so that I may honor You and glorify Your name. Lord, give me courage and patience to wait on you. I will trust God and turn it all over to Him. Lord have I sinned or made false judgements? Forgive me Lord and make me see my faults. Clearly point out to me where I have left Your path or where I have been stubborn, blinding my eyes to God's will for my life. Redirect me now Lord, so that I may see the lighted path again and hear God's words for me.

Bring me now to that quiet place with you so that I can step back, catch my breath, be calm, stop, think, pray, and not make any knee jerk reactions. Lord, give me the courage and patience to wait on you. As you were to David be my light and my salvation, the stronghold of my life, my fortress, my protection against enemies, my best defense, my confidence, my refuge, my rock of strength, my teacher, my leader, the one that is always there for me even when no one else is, the one I seek above all others, and the one that I sing praises to and shout with joy for during my troubled times. Lord I praise you with joy because I know I can trust in you. I know God has already gone ahead of me and by faith He will lead me safely down the path that follows His will, to a place of safety and blessing. Dear Lord give me courage and patience to wait on you so that I do not fall prey to my temptations, weaknesses, rash impatient judgments, or stubbornness.

Lord keep me from running past Your light into the darkness where I will stumble and fall. Direct me now so that I do not sacrifice the blessings that God has intended for me. God's word has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So I can now say with confidence, "Lord you are my helper; I will not be afraid." Lord point out to me and help me free my life of anything that I put above God, so that I can be content in the path God has planned for me. I know and believe that no man or evil has power over God and He will protect me. Through God's word I believe I have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom I have gained access by faith into this grace in which I now stand. I will rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. I will rejoice in my good times and in my sufferings, because I know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. The hope You give me will not disappoint me, because God has poured out his love into my heart by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given me. Lord, give me courage and patience to wait on you.

I know God will do things in His time and in His way. By faith I trust and believe in God, so I will wait. Dear Lord I pray for You to give me the peace and contentment that will sustain me as I wait on You. Help me to focus on what must be done and on serving others instead of being chained down to worries and anxieties. I pray to You now and wait on the You for my answers. Lord I seek Your counsel and the strength You will give me to follow it, no matter how difficult it may be. Lord I pray for wisdom so that I may test everything to know what is good. God's word says that every good and perfect gift is from above. Keep me from being deceived Lord. Make my steps firm in faith so that when I stumble, I will not fall, because You Lord protect me. I will be in Your hands. I confess that I am impatient right now and ask Your forgiveness. Redirect me now Lord and give me the courage and patience to wait on You. I wish to walk in Your light now and forever. All this I pray in Jesus name. Amen

Lord Lighten My Burdens

Dear Lord, I come to you tonight with burdens weighing heavy on my heart. My gracious Lord be with me now and give me strength. Give me the courage I need to stay in your light, so that I do not to stumble or fall. Protect me now Lord from the things that would tempt me to stray from the path I have with you. My Lord when I know you are with me the dark shadows do not scare me and my burdens have no weight. The shadows that do their best to cast fear in my heart can’t survive. I will sing to you with joy and praise you Lord, for your merciful peace and the contentment that calms my heart. Dear Lord, give me the strength that I need, allowing me to focus on you so that my day and nights are spent honoring your will and glorifying your name. Let my anxiety and discouragement fades away. Dear Lord, walk with me and
protect me keeping me close to you always. Fill me full with your spirit so that I may have patience to wait on you. All this I ask in Jesus name. Amen.

When I was trying to put together my blog Footsteps in the valley, my intent was to have it serve multiple purposes.
1. I wanted to sow seeds of faith to bring the unsaved to Jesus Christ.
2. I wanted it to be a daily devotional with inspirational messages, poetry, art, and photography.

3. I wanted to develop an Internet link tool to help show people resources that are on the Internet for studies in their faith.

Well as I kept working on getting this all set up I kept finding wonderful resources and my blog page exploded. So now I have Footsteps In The Valley and More Footsteps In The Valley. One things that I wanted to have was a place for prayer. How much do we know about prayer? We know the Lord's prayer and most likely a few children's prayers too. Is that it? Do you feel comfortable praying by yourself? Do you feel comfortable praying in front of a group? Do you take time to pray every day?

I hope you will take time to check out the links I have on prayer. There are some great resources within these links. Each day I will be posting a prayer that goes with my blog message for the day. I fully believe in the awesome power of prayer. God has blessed me in so many ways with the prayers He has answered and the prayers He has not answered the way I thought I wanted Him too. I pray that this helps you build a stronger prayer time with God.

Dear Heavenly Father, there are times when I feel I have everything under control. It is during these times that I often forget how much you are there for me. There are other times in my life that I feel life is a mystery or a nightmare and I have no clue how to solve the mystery and I wish it were all a bad dream and I would just wake up. It is during these times when I realize how blessed I really am. You give me strength and courage to face my daily demons that want to prey on my weaknesses. You let me turn it all over to you, knowing that my heart can be at peace because nothing is beyond Your power. Father today help me maintain my self control so that all I do today may honor You and glorify Your name. May I feel true freedom today with my faith in you. This I pray in Jesus name, Amen.
